Is the food expensive at Cairo Airport?

When we think of airport food, we always think of exorbitant prices. But Cairo Airport may surprise you in this regard. Prices at chain cafes and fast-food restaurants are reasonable. Products sold in duty-free shops and meals at luxury restaurants are more expensive compared to the city center. Also, the food and beverage outlets in Terminal 3 are tourist-oriented. That’s why prices are higher.

Prices for hamburgers and fast-food menus range from $5 to $10. Fast-food chains such as Burger King, McDonald’s, and Starbucks are available in Terminal 3.

Where are the restaurants and cafes located?

Terminal 3: This terminal has the largest selection of food and beverage outlets. Terminal 3 has international chain cafes, fast-food chains, and full-service restaurants. Burger King, Upper Crest, Yum Cha, Cinnabon, McDonald’s, Starbucks, and more are located in Terminal 3.

Terminal 2: This terminal serves medium-sized international flights. There are duty-free shops, cafes, and restaurants in both the arrivals and departures areas of the terminal.

Terminal 1: Terminal 1 serves domestic flights. There are cafes and fast food outlets here.

When are the restaurants open at Cairo Airport?

Restaurant and fast food chains are located throughout Cairo Airport. In Terminal 3, you can eat hot food even at midnight. I once got an Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s at 3 a.m. However, some small cafes are closed late at night. Cafes and restaurants in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 operate according to the flight schedule. These places open early in the morning and close at night. Major fast food chains and the main dining area in Terminal 3 are always open.

Does Cairo Airport have grocery stores or food shops?

There are many fast food outlets and restaurants at Cairo Airport. There are many grab-and-go style stores in Terminal 3. Here, you can buy fruit juice, fruit, chips, and chocolate. Prices are 2-3 times higher than normal market prices.

There is a wide variety of food and drink options in the duty-free area of the airport. It is really like a shopping mall. There are restaurants, markets, and cafes in the terminals.

Food allergies and intolerances

You should be very careful about this. This is because awareness of food allergies in Cairo is not as high as in Europe. Many restaurants at the airport serve halal food. Terminal 3 serves Asian, Mediterranean, and Italian cuisine.

International fast food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and Starbucks have gluten-free food options. There are gluten-free bakeries and cafes in Cairo city. However, I haven’t seen any place at the airport offering specific gluten-free options. I recommend bringing your own gluten-free snacks with you. The international food court in Terminal 3 serves dishes from various cuisines. Here, you can find vegetarian options.
